SERVICES chronic painPain Evaluation

Pain is associated with a wide range of injury and diseases. Chronic pain may continue for months or years. Even initial injury may trigger a chronic pain disorder.

A survey by the American Pain Foundation found that most survey participants said pain made them depressed, made it hard to concentrate, interrupted sleep and reduced overall enjoyment of life.

No one else hurts exactly the way you do, so we take the time to carefully evaluate your pain. We listen to what you feel and to what you want to achieve. We review your medical history. We study the newest information about your condition, and then we create an individualized plan to help you reach your goals. We review this plan with you, discuss your options and decide together what the best approach is for you.

Treatment Plans

At PainMed P.C., we offer a wide range of options that are blended into a pain-treatment, pain-management program developed especially for you. We listen; we consider what you do and what you hope to achieve through a pain management program.  In summary, there are various pain management procedures available: starting from conservative through surgical.

Medication Therapy

At PainMed P.C., we don’t believe that medication is the only way to treat pain. We recognize, however, that drugs can play a role in reducing pain while we work to control or eliminate your pain. Our medical staff is fully licensed to recommend and prescribe all types of pain medication, including

• Over-the-counter medications
• COX-2 inhibitors
• Corticosteroids
• Opioids
• Anticonvulsants
• Antidepressants
• Muscle relaxants

Before we recommend or prescribe any drug, we review your complete health history. We will evaluate your current medication to minimize the risk of drug interaction, and we won’t recommend anything that could harm your health — including over-the-counter medication.

Physical Therapy

Conservative treatments, specifically exercise can be very beneficial and most often times a key component to pain management.  Physical Therapy and exercise is often times prescribed for moderate back pain, for example.  At PainMed P.C. we work and can recommend numerous Physical Therapy Groups to treat more severe cases.  Some examples of conservative treatments and exercise that may become part of your program include: aerobic exercise, swimming, cycling, yoga and Pilates, physiotherapy, osteopathy and chiropractic.

Interventional Procedures

No patient is exactly the same, which is why PainMed P.C. offers a range of clinically relevant choices for interventional procedures.  These procedures are designed to meet individual patient needs and to help deliver clinical outcomes using minimally invasive techniques.

Our goal is simple.  We focus on you to help reduce or eliminate your pain.
